About WIP

Ever since I was a little child, I’ve had a desire to please God. Growing up in the church, I experienced many things that turned me off Christianity. Instead of helping me grow in my walk with God, I began to question whether Christians are any better than non-Christians. Changing countries and continents over the years, my family attended many different churches. Again and again, I found church to be a superficial experience, one that failed to challenge my faith or help me grow. I read the Bible and longed to know God better. At times I gave up in frustration.

The good news is that God longs for us more then we can imagine. When he sees a longing heart, he will use many different circumstances to reveal himself and reach us.

When things got really ugly in the church my family was attending, I thought it was time to look around for a new church. God guided us to a church where the leadership is committed to God and true to the Bible as God’s Word. They lead by example, showing us how to reach out to this world as God’s extended hands and feet. Finally, I began to learn about God in a practical way, not just God as a theory - a real, how-to-live-a-daily-Christian-life level.

God answered my prayer and fulfilled my desire to learn and understand more about His heart, His character, His personality, His purpose for and with my life. I am blessed to be a part of a church where we have Bible studies and groups where we can ask questions, debate theological theories and be honest with our faith challenges in an intimate way, knowing that whatever we share will stay in that room.

After a Ladies Coffer Break – LCB study, I remember coming home and praising God and blessing His name. I felt so thankful for the people God was using - people who had surrendered their lives to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and were helping me grow in my walk with God. In retrospect, I can see that God was preparing me in advance for things ahead. He was strengthening my faith so that I could face the challenges and struggles that would come. He does this with all of us.

When I finished praising God I felt a sudden sadness for those lost years and times when I didn’t have this opportunity and an amazing church family. I felt sadness about millions of Christians who have the same desire to learn more about God and to grow, but the spiritual ground around them is dry and barren. I began to weep for those who might seek God, and instead of finding Him in a church they might encounter legalistic Pharisees, who would turn them off God completely. Unfortunately, the church and many Christians don’t represent God properly.

God put a desire in my heart to start an online Bible community to share how God challenged me to get to know Him better, a place where you can ask questions without wondering what others might think about you, where you can pour out openly (and anonymously, if you wish) and confess your hidden sins and to ask God’s forgiveness.

Work In Progress offers weekly Bible studies for Christians who take their faith seriously and want to grow deeper in their walk with God. It’s also a place for non-Christians who are curious about God, but they don’t know where to begin learning about Him. To be part of our Bible Community you are required to sign up as a member.

Every study will be available on-line for its duration. Once a study is over, the material will be removed. You can share these studies with your home church bible group if you wish, either directly through the website, or you may want to purchase some of the resources that will be available on our site. Some studies will have study notes that you can print and fill out on your own. If you don’t have a printer and would like to have the notes please contact me with your request.

Work In Progress is a FREE membership site. You will have to register as a member to be able to access our materials. Take the “sign-in” as a “walk-in” into your bible group. I would like this community to grow to be a safe place where you can share your deepest thoughts and questions, hence the membership requirement. It’s a free membership as walking in any church it would be a free opportunity. If you find Work In Progress helps you to grow spiritually, please consider making a donation in order to keep the site running.

We will meet once weekly, when I will be available on site. After our time together, as in most church settings, a virtual “offering plate” will be available. This will provide an opportunity for you to support Work In Progress if you feel led to do so.

If you have any questions, please send them to me under the “You Asked” menu option, and I will do my best to answer. If you would like a personal response and/or you want your question to remain confidential, fill in the form on the “Contact Me” page. Please make it clear that you would like the answer to be received in e-mail personally, without posting it on the “You Asked” page.

Come join the WIP Community! It’s a great place to interact with other Christians and grow in your personal relationship with God, as we learn together how to be His extended hands and feet to the world around us.

I would love to hear your ideas about how I can improve Work-In-Progress-Online.com. Please don't hesitate to contact me with your suggestions.
